Understanding Payment Processes for Musicians

As a musician, it's natural to be eager about getting paid for your gigs. However, it's important to understand how our platform works and what role we play in the payment process.

Our Platform's Function

Back On Stage is a tool that bandleaders use to manage their bands and issue payouts to their members. We operate similarly to a specialized calendar for band leaders. Just as you might use Google Calendar to send event invitations, band leaders use our platform to send gig invitations. We provide the tools for communication and organization, but we don't handle financial transactions.

Payment Responsibility

It's crucial to recognize that we do not handle or control any aspect of business operations, including issuing payments to musicians. The responsibility for payment lies entirely between you and the band leader or event organizer who booked you. We simply facilitate the connection and scheduling.

What We Can’t Do

If you are inquiring about when you will receive payment for a gig, please understand that we cannot provide that information or assist with the matter. The payment process is solely between you and your bandleader.

Steps You Can Take

If you're experiencing payment issues, here are some recommended steps:

  1. Use In-App Communication: Contact your bandleader via the "Band > Chat" module on the booking page and politely ask when you can expect to be paid. Note that all other members on the gig will see your post here.
  2. Direct Contact: You may also contact your bandleader directly through other channels.
  3. Legal Action: If months have passed and you feel it is necessary to take legal action, you may proceed to contact your local small claims court.

Our Platform's Limitations

Unlike gig marketplace sites, we don't have internal rating systems or reputation tracking. Our platform is designed for bands to manage their existing rosters and internal communications, not as a public gig marketplace. Remember, while we understand the frustration of delayed payments, we do not have control over when bandleaders issue payouts to their members. Clear communication with the hiring party is your best approach for resolving payment issues.
